Having just returned from New York , I can share first-hand that Times Square
and Broadway are in full-swing and
buzzing with people and activity.
Flew on the night flight out of
Oakland on
Jetblue, stayed at the
Four Points Sheraton on 40th
Street (convenient for shows but not located on
the
best block off 8th
Avenue -surrounding establishments were a bit
sleazy).
We almost felt guilty for being in
Manhattan when
all over the news there was
so much devastation just across the
way in Long Island and New
Jersey .
Two weeks after Hurricane Sandy,
they still had no power. However, we
definitely contributed to the
New York
economy with 9 shows, fine dining and
a bit of
shopping…
~ The Heiress (with Jessica Chastain
from The Help)
~ Annie
(revival)
~ Glengarry Glen Ross (with Al
Pacino)
~ Newsies (loved this
musical!)
~ Beatles Tribute at BB King’s
(brunch)
~ Dead Accounts (with Katie
Holmes)
~ FLIGHT (movie with Denzel
Washington)
~ Nice Work If You Can Get It (with
Matthew Broderick)
~ The Performers (with Henry Winkler
& Alicia Silverstone)
We had snow one night and sunshine
the rest of the trip.
We took the subway and a pedicab
($80 to go 30 blocks!).
I went to the Guggenheim Museum for a special Picasso
exhibition.
Great restaurants: Tony’s di
Napoli, Jean Georges, Marea, Alfredo’s,
Aquagrill in Soho
I just love New
York !
