Cabo San Lucas Oct 2012 by Kathy Jones

A girlfriend and I decided to go to Cabo for a quick getaway (4nights).
We flew on American Airlines from Reno to LAX then to Cabo. The flights
to Mexico were on time, the return flight was delayed by 1/2 hr out of
Cabo, but upon our arrival in LAX, they had someone meet us and give us
a "fast pass" through customs, which was nice and we did make our
connection to Reno! I thought AA was great, too bad they are getting such
bad press right now.
We stayed at the Riu Santa Fe which is an all inclusive resort about 10
minutes by taxi from town. I have not been to Cabo in about 15 years, so
it has definitely grown. My friend and I both loved the Santa Fe. The
staff was so friendly and the food was really great! They offer three
specialty restaurants that do require you get up early and make reserva-
tions for. My friend offered to do that, so we ate at the Steak House and
Italian restaurants. Again, food and service were excellent, it was a nice
break from the buffet! We mostly just relaxed by the pools and did take
advantage of the the spa one day. Prices at the spa were about what we
would pay for a mani/pedi and massage here California. They do put on
shows after dinner for entertainment. One night it was a tribute to
Michael Jackson, which was really good and one night it was a tribute to
Grease (I thought it was corny, but my friend loved it)!
We did go next door to check out the Riu Palace, it is more expensive
and much more "elegant" in decor. I did not like the fact that it was not
all level as our hotel, too many stairs to climb and it did feel sort of
"stuffy", not my style. I like a more laid back resort. Most people we
met were there for Sammy Hagar's birthday bash, which was going on all
that week at Cabo Wabo. The weather was hot and humid, but not so bad.
I heard from a friend that it started to rain and flood a couple of days
after we left!
I am not a picture taker, so no pictures to share, sorry. Had a great
time and would definitely recommend this resort to anyone looking for
an all inclusive. There were some families, but seemed like more couples
and singles as well. We did overhear one lady telling another that her
roommates jewelry got stolen, but she did not keep it in the in room
safe!
