Hi All ~ We are floating this
afternoon. I am sitting drinking a latte as we pass the home where Mnnet lived
for three years. Christmas carols are playing through the sound systems, dad
(Ron) is outside in the cold taking pictures. We just went through a lock where
we had to drop 15 feet in order to continue our journey.
This morning was spent in a
motorcoach which took us upriver to the home of VanGogh. Judy, I thought of you
and how much you would enjoy this. Our tour guide was an art major and was so
passionate about the artists she was talking about you couldn't help but get
wrapped up in their lives. She was quite upset by the rumor of an American
writing a book saying VanGogh was killed by street thugs. The French prefer
history showing he committed suicide. I didn't realize VanGogh was so
influenced by other artists. Monet and Cezanne were very instumental in his
later works.
We had dinner with an absolutely
fascinating couple. He is an international scientist and she has a PHD in
international studies. Dad (Ron) was in his glory listening to them talk about
their educational experiences. Dad prefers this type of cruising over the large
